DOCUMENTING THE ACADEMY

Kalkin's Tennis Academy is staged on a full-sized harlf-court with synthetic grass surface, from which he has conducted daily tennis workshops alognside guests, including philosophers, physicists and sports psychologists, whos interests intersect with his own.
The AKTA includes 'motivational' DVDs and products for sale, designed to undermine consumer culture's promises to transform and imporve our lives through consumer goods. Kalkin's project also exposes the relationship between commercial sponsorship and contemporary arts practices.'
